IDEA
The Warsaw Squash League aims to create a community of amateur squash players, people with positive energy who enjoy physical activity, where we will compete in a friendly atmosphere throughout Warsaw.
You can play in any club, it all depends on agreeing on a place with the other person.
Our motto is For Fit For Fun, remember that the most important thing is a friendly and open atmosphere. We want our community to be integrated and
meetings and playing matches is pure pleasure. We put the sports result in second place.
You can play at any time, it all depends on the time you agree with the other person.
Fixed membership fee - only 120PLN/3 months.
Thanks to the WSL© scale, you play with people of similar skills. We run a ranking that you can access through a dedicated application on your phone, and in June we organize a tournament with prizes only for WSL participants.
RULES
You can join the WSL at any time. The WSL membership fee is fixed and always covers a 3-month period. You start playing at the beginning of the next calendar month and play for 3 months (regardless of the season ending). Example:
You apply on September 15th, start playing on October 1st for 3 months, meaning your WSL membership expires on December 31st.
In 2023/2024 we will play 4 seasons:
• Fall season: September 1, 2024 – November 30, 2024
• Winter season: December 1, 2022 – February 28, 2025
• Spring season: March 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025
• Summer season: June 1, April 2025 – August 31, 2025
For each month of a given season, the player receives the contact details of the other people in the group. You can play matches at any club in Warsaw or the surrounding area (after booking a court in advance). Court fees are the responsibility of the participants. The match is played in 5 sets to 11 points with advantages.
After playing a match, you and your opponent enter the result into the dedicated BO5 application.
There are usually 5 players in one group. You have a calendar month to play all the matches.
Scoring:
1. Matches ending with the score 5-0 -> 5 points for winning 5 sets.
2. A match ending with the result 4:1 -> 4 points for winning 4 sets, 1 point for
player who won the set.
3. A match ending with the result 3:2 -> 3 points for winning 3 sets, 2 points for
player who won 2 sets.
4. Additionally, players receive 1 point for playing the match and 1 extra point
The player who wins the match gets a point.
5. A maximum of 7 points is awarded to a player who plays a match and wins it 5-0.

6. The person who forfeits the match receives 0 points, while the second
the player gets 7 points.
After all matches in a group have been played, the 2 people with the highest scores advance to the group above, and the 2 people with the lowest scores drop to the group below. When players have the same number of points, the number of matches, sets and points won determines the place in the group. In the event that new players join the WSL, the number of players in the group may change, which will also result in a change in the number of people advancing or dropping. Detailed rules of participation can be found in the Regulations.

After submitting your application to WSL, you will receive a link to a survey that will put you in a group of players with similar skills to yours. The survey is based on the WSL© proprietary scale.

The player is just starting out in squash. He is just getting to know the rules of the game.

The player has trouble hitting the ball cleanly. He tries to play a simple rally with
displayed balls.
2.0
The player is able to keep the ball in play in free throws, but lacks
experience. Has trouble preparing the racket. Strokes like shortcut, lob, boast are random.
2.5
Player has no control over the direction of the shot during faster rallies. Does not return to the T-point. Begins to serve more confidently.
3.0
Player hits the ball cleanly. Starts guarding the T-point, player is not sure
shots under pressure. The back of the court starts defending with a boast.
3.5
The player is able to play a rally at a medium pace but does not control the power
strokes and lengths. He has a problem with receiving a serve that flies to the side wall.
4.0
The player is consciously starting to control the exchange, moving well around the court. He still has trouble effectively receiving balls from the back of the court. He can play most of the shots, but he does not control these plays under pressure.
4.5
A league level player controls the power of his shots, direction and length. He often tries to use volley in his range of shots. He plays the short, boast and lob shots consciously.
5.0
Player controls the return, effectively throws the opponent to the back of the court when receiving the serve, starts to construct actions forcing the opponent to make a mistake. Confidently uses offensive shots. Tries to use simple tactics during rallies. Lack of tournament experience.
5.5
A local tournament player, he can play an effective defensive lob,
high level of perception, uses return to create an advantage in the exchange. Consciously uses various tactics against different opponents.
6.0
A mentally strong player, gained experience in national tournaments, good defense, hides his weaknesses. He is physically prepared for long rallies.

Professional, coach, extensive tournament experience.
7.0
Professional player, lives off squash. High in PZSQ ranking or is a national representative.
